Hi! In an earlier email today I reported that deleting documents and data of apps in Settings/General/Usage/Manage Storage does not work with VoiceOver.
I have received an email from the Accessibility team in the meantime. This is supposed to be static text, and VoiceOver is not supposed to say: "Swipe up or down to select custom action, then double-tap to activate".
Aw, that's a pity! I was looking forward to shrinking my Facebook and Spotify apps now and again.

Hi, it's me again! I would like to address two points in terms of word processing in MacOSX.

Some of us remember VoiceOver's Page-2 issue in TextEdit, Bean Text Edit, NisusWriter Pro, which occurred with the first Mavericks release.
this bug was fixed in 10.9.1; and everything was good again.
However, I have heard from someone who is familiar with the beta of 10.10 Yosemite that this old bug is back.
I don't know about very recent developments and whether this has been fixed. This year, I will certainly wait with the update and keep my ear to the ground on Twitter to see whether this issue still exists in the main release. This might be a good idea, too, for those of you who work with all sorts of documents frequently.

The much bigger issue occurs in Pages 5.2.
When I highlight some text, say on page one of a document and shift+arrow my way down on to page 2, the text on page 1 is then no longer highlighted. When copy-pasting text which crosses a page break, only the text on the last page is copied.
Here is an example: I am in the process of writing up my PhD dissertation. I wrote the first chapters in one file for each chapter. when merging the chapters, I have to cut off the bibliography at the end of each chapter and merge it with the sources from other chapters in one document. Can you imagine what my blood pressure was like when Pages and VoiceOver behave like this? Dear Lord!
I can't count the emails I have written to Accessibility@Apple.com, I phoned AppleCare three times, I gave feedback on the Apple website several times... Nothing has changed yet. Maybe they will wake up when some more people care.

All the best, Markus

Hi Folks!
I really enjoyed episode 33 and would like to add some comments on iOS8:
I like:
• the recent or favorite contacts in the app switcher. Awesome!
• the option to add widgets to the Notification Center.
• the possibility that documents & data of apps can now be deleted in Settings/General/Usage/Manage Storage

I do NOT like:
• ...that the last feature I like does not work with voiceOver. I've been on to Accessibility@Apple.com about this. Fingers crossed!
• the handwriting feature crashes so reliably that I have taken it out of the rotor for the time being.
• I also do not like that I have a 50-50 chance that WhatsApp and some other apps kick me out when performing certain actions or VoiceOver gestures. We have to be understanding though! After all, the developers have only been able to play around with the iOS8 beta since June. How can we expect them to prepare their apps for the sudden coming of a new iOS release? #GetMySarcasm

On the bigger screen size: Know what? If I didn't have an iPhone 5S, I probably would get the 6+. I am fully blind, so the bigger screen would serve only ONE purpose for me, but this one purpose is sufficient to make me want one:
I could type with FleksyVO with two hands in landscape mode! Oh yes!

And on the pranks: I went to a blind school after I had lost my sight 15 years ago. When my year there was over, a friend and I prepared a floppy disk at home with a somewhat altered JAWS for Windows dictionary file and copied it onto all the computers in the classroom during a break. Among other things, JAWS said: "OK" on the 'Cancel' button and vice versa, which made the exercise of closing documents a bit more exciting for the other students. ;)

Keep up the good work! I'll chat to you soon.

In reply to <a href="/2014/09/23/triple-click-home-episode-33-wheres-the-braille/#comment-160829">Buddy Brannan</a>.

Well, two things ! Buddy yes I know you all mostly talk about things that is blind issues. No everyone don't want such a big phone blind or other wise! But you was the one who said it was hard to wrap your tiny little mind around the fact your wife now wants a iPhone since it is much bigger and she wanted the 6plus. But you know lot of the blind and visualimpaired is getting this 6plus. In fact the 6plus is selling so much better than the 6 that most people is having to wait till November or later of this year to get one . By the way I totally understand seeing people as I was one for most of my 56 years on this earth. I did not start going blind till about 45 years of age. Now the other thing is I did a podcast and posted a link to it on my drop box site. Well now I have this podcast up at the Blind Geek Zone site. So see the link below to it on the podcast to the KNFB reader. Enjoy!

Well duh! Of course we're looking at it from a blindness point of view. We're a blindness-centric podcast. It's what we do. Still, there have been those in the mainstream who have also said they don't want or need a phablet, so it isn't entirely a blindness issue.

Well, I bought the KNFB reader the other day! Yes 100 bucks for this app. The most expensive app I have ever bought! Now I will say I wish it was more cheaper but I have to say it is worth every penny of it. I personally don't have a scan and read solution till I bought this. It is the most amazing thing I ever seen ! So to help people that is not sure I did a reall life podcast on it! It is one that has not been edited! it is on the fly so to speak. It does not really go over the settings and the app it self as there is a great podcast already done on that atApple vis by Mike. My is totally different. It is up at my drop box site. So see link below to it and enjoy!

well, the thing is U all R looking at it from a blind perspective only. Most seeing people really likes the larger screen. They like it as they really use the phone for much more than a phone. This way they save money in the long run and have best of both worlds a mini tablet and phone. Also I would like to share something with you all and will do it in a seprate comment as it is a totally different subject. JST !
